Where the snow is whiter than ever

Winter in Pietralba

Pietralba is undoubtedly one of the best-loved places in the entire region, even more so in winter when the snowy fields and forests give the sanctuary a magical purity. Here, it is possible to embrace the wonder of the winter season far from the hustle and bustle of the more frequented Dolomite valleys. With the slopes just a stone’s throw away, those who love walking and snowshoeing have kilometres of prepared trails at their finger tips.

UNESCO World Heritage Dolomites

A heritage site to preserve

three_content-img

For years now the Dolomites have been recognised as a World Heritage Site. However, the UNESCO seal is not enough to guarantee their safekeeping.

It is necessary for everyone including tour operators and visitors to play their part in preserving a heritage site that, despite its imposing stature, appears fragile as a result of ongoing changes. Respect, restraint and care are essential elements that must be part of our cultural heritage.

Experiencing the Dolomites goes without saying, but today more than ever appropriate behaviour and a new awareness are required, which must be packed in your rucksack, filled in your drinking bottle and instilled in those who provide accommodation.

Excursions in the snow

A number of well-prepared paths lead from Pietralba into the woods and fields and are perfect for walking and snowshoeing. Find yourself at one with nature in peaceful surroundings, which glisten more than ever in the winter sunshine. Complete the magic circle taking in the Laab and Capanna Nuova mountain huts along with Monte San Pietro – an experience not to be missed.

The advantage of spending a winter holiday in Pietralba is that you are away from the hustle and bustle, yet still close to everything. Both the Obereggen ski area at the foot of the Latemar and the Carezza ski area at the foot of the Catinaccio are both connected to the Dolomiti Superski and just a few kilometres away by shuttlebus. Two truly beautiful ski areas with around 90 kilometres of slopes, ideal for both families and more experienced skiers.
