Where history, nature and hospitality become one.

LOREM IPSUM
Paths of light
Trekking

The Pietralba Sanctuary is the largest pilgrimage site in the whole of South Tyrol. From here there is an intricate network of paths leading into the heart of the Dolomites towards the Catinaccio and Latemar group. The Val d'Ega with its villages of Nova Ponente, Nova Levante and Obereggen are excellent starting points for hikes of all difficulty levels ranging from easy to more demanding. Set off from here and discover a more mystical and fascinating side to the Dolomites.

HIKING
A day in peace and quiet
Hiking

From the sanctuary to the mountain pastures of Monte San Pietro. Walk through woods and meadows taking in the surrounding beauty of the Dolomites. Stop for a break in places where time seems to stand still. Enjoy the unspoilt alpine environment, breathing in clean, crisp air filled with fragrances that only Mother Nature knows how to provide. Walking around here, even with children, is simply wonderful.

NORDIC WALKING
Dolomite paradise
Nordic Walking

Pietralba is an ideal part of the Dolomites for those who love Nordic walking. Thanks to a network of well-marked paths leading through fields and woods to the Catinaccio rock faces, it is possible to enjoy this sport and take advantage of its well-known health benefits.

Trails

From the car park, take forest path 2 and after 45 minutes you will come to the Monte San Pietro mountain hut at an altitude of 1,529 m. From here, continue on trail 1B following the signpost for Malga Laab mountain hut (1,648 m), which you will reach after another hour. Continue on trail 1 (signposted 'Neuhütt') and you will reach the Neuhütt hut in approx. one and a half hours. The path then becomes steeper, alternating between woodland and rocky paths before descending to Malga Monte San Pietro, another place for a break. From Malga Laab, it takes about an hour. To return to the starting point at the sanctuary, follow forest road 2 from Malga Monte San Pietro like at the beginning.

SENTIERI

You can reach the locality of Ega di Sopra by car. Take path 9 followed by path 8, the so-called ‘Pearl Path’ leading to Lake Carezza. The paths take you mostly through coniferous forests. You will come across two clearings where you can enjoy a stunning view of the Latemar and the Catinaccio group. After the Passo di Carezza road, you will soon reach the lake. When the sun is shining in the right direction, the most incredible blue and turquoise colours can be seen in the lake, transforming this place into an amazing natural phenomenon. The forest roads are pretty flat and make for very easy walks. This is why they are also suitable for the whole family even if you have a pushchair with you.

A challenging hike requiring a certain amount of training, but the beauty of the places you come across makes the effort worthwhile. From the starting point at Costalunga Pass, take trail 17 leading to the Latemar meadows. From there, paths 18 and 18A lead to the Latemar pass. Following trail 18, you come to the steep south side of Col Cornon and finally the eastern summit of the Latemar reaching an altitude of 2,791 m at the highest point of the hike.
On the way back, first take the trail to the summit and then descend to the M. Rigatti bivouac along trail 18. Paths 18 and 516 then lead to the Torre di Pisa mountain hut via a rocky slope. This hut owes its name to a nearby rocky pinnacle, which leans just like the Tower of Pisa. Afterwards, the descent continues to a point where the paths cross. Path 23A takes you to the Mayrl mountain hut. At the next crossroads, take trail 9 leading to Ega.
