Following a brief overview of the Dolomites surrounding Pietralba and a chance to take in the woods and paths leading from the sanctuary, you will hear the story about the origin of the devotion to the Virgin Mary.
The Pietralba sanctuary is one of the most important pilgrimage sites in South Tyrol. In the past, it was a holiday destination for John Paul I and welcomed John Paul II in the summer of 1988. To visit it is to delve into the artistic-architectural aspects of the present building, which expresses both the Baroque and Rococo styles of the 18th century. After admiring the decorations, frescoes and paintings inside the church, you can wander through the corridors of the monastery, which are not only home to the oldest theological texts, but also the rooms of the Servants of Mary. A brief detour to take a closer look at the religious rites that have marked the days in Pietralba for over 300 years.
In addition to catering services, Pietralba has a large picnic area for those who prefer to bring food from home. Parking, drinking water and toilets are available at the picnic area.
Once in Pietralba, you have nature, the Dolomites and the beauty of the sanctuary at your fingertips. But that is not all. If you feel hungry, head to our restaurant, which is open for lunch and dinner or to our bar, which is open all day serving breakfast, snacks and aperitifs. During the summer months, you can buy sandwiches, drinks and local specialities from Pilgrim's Kiosk.
